What about the people who are nice and encourage you to keep on writing?

Just ignore any negativity because it more likely comes from someone trolling or simply a person lacking any real talent or ability to do anything worthy of praise. I really don't think wantsomefun would be negative towards anyone here. Another strange thing is the lack of links beneath logged in users who comment on stories.

Whatever it is has influenced me to stop contributing here in the name of literary goods. I would never let my child walk into harm's way and I feel the same emotions about posting a story in enemy territory.

*Not encouraging anyone to follow suit, but since we aren't pic threaders or video posters I guess the cat is handed canaries to gobble down. I don't have a 2006 as a join date so I will be ignored as many of our requests frequently are here in purgatory

I wanted a story deleted but now I want more of them gone. Should nophest or lemark stumble upon this, let us make a clean sweep. All of my stories removed asap and the threads in this forum modified so they don't hold any of my submissions in them. Thanks for your understanding and hard work I just want a clean sweep of my posted stories on stories.xnxx and the ones on the forum if possible.

 

I guess I'm out of touch, SS, but I must ask: What has happened? I have not noticed any influx of extreme nastyness. Did I miss something? I honestly thought things were a little bit better.

Don't leave. We've lost too many. One is too many and we've lost more than one.

 

I had one person vote down a story. Ok, 80% I am off the first 2 pages of "top rated in 30 days", and a couple others. Not a problem. But then 'someone' votes it down further to 60% like the story needed to be kicked while it is down.

Everything I post 'over there' is knocked off. I get these random comments from unidentified people and I can't block anonymous comments while I can block anonymous votes. The two should go hand in hand. If that weren't the case, can I be allowed to post anonymously? I mean if random people want to post comments anonymously I want to be able to post stories anonymously.

We ought to be able to block both anonymous votes and comments or neither one. It is simple to do and easier with the added help on the forum with the two additional mods ejls and shakezula.

Maybe I'll give it another shot in a little while.

At least give the writers the ability to delete their own stories and comments on a whim and I'll feel better about posting something


EDIT: And now I noticed someone commenting as wantsomefun putting down stories, and insulting authors. I know it isn't him and would take any repercussions for him, because this 'bull' was committed against ejls and a couple others without any solutions procured.

 

For now, the only option of which I am aware is not allowing comments (and that sucks for all the appropriate reasons) and limiting ratings to only registered voters. Not so good.

I've said it before: I will hardly ever (I won't say never, but it's almost) read stories on the forum. Too disjointed and difficult to find later.

I do hope you get past this difficult time. I can hear and feel your anger at the system that allows assholes to treat you this way. My response, even though it was the wrong response, was to stop writing completely. Even though my stories were not epics and no publisher was beating down my door, they enjoyed decent ratings and some even said they were enjoyed. Now: no more.

I do so hope that is not your response.

 

That's the dilemma I face. Deny all comments and anonymous votes entirely or allow them and get a verbal assault.

I still write, don't get me wrong. I just don't see a point in posting new material until I know that the light coming through the tunnel isn't a train.

Your stories are purely epic Don. Reading how a reviewer such as yourself describes a scene is next to watching the birth of a child in importance. Very high on the scale

Publishers aren't beating at my door and I don't have a legion of clambering fans. What I do have is a desire to write and nothing will dampen the embers burning within my spirit to voice my perceptions and ideas in story form.

It is the idea that being as unprotected as we are, we gain nothing by contributing (for free, mind you) to a site that ignores its authors a simple response when things are upside down on their back. I don't want my stories on this site with the provisions we are allowed. A flashlight and a book of matches won't do much during a 2 year camping trip, if you catch my drift.

 

In my opinion, including the gay tag when there's even a single boy-boy kiss is the best option. You're right that it's not a perfect solution either way, but I think you'll get far more complaints if you leave it off than if you include it.

I'll admit it's a double standard; if you leave off the lesbian tag for a girl-girl kiss, almost nobody will complain. Fair? Not really. But that's just the way it is.

 

where to post

I've been tempted to post on the forum, but I've been unsure as to how much visibility the story would have. If it's a gay or bi story, I'll post on Nifty.org as well. The site isn't as well organized for feedback, but it's been there forever and emails I get from readers there are always encouraging. And just as important, the site manager allows updates and reposts.

I quit posting here after the site broke and several of my postings just vanished for a while. And I have never gotten a reply to my emails to the site master here about removing or updating a story. But it is fun to see how many reads a story gets, and to get mostly good comments.
