Did they hire someone from the USB-IF to come up with these names, perchance? On second thoughts nah, why use a human. Bet it’s an LLM’s output.

I get why they would want to keep the developer API models static (it's pretty much necessity for usage) and why that's a bad idea for chatGPT (users don't care, want better outputs). Though with this clarification GPT-5 (unification model for chatGPT) becomes really important, because very soon nobody can make sense of the naming where two same names mean different things in the API and chatGPT.
Btw., any information whether 4.5 is a dead branch or it got shifted to "teacher" model for GPT-4.1 and newer? If I am not mistaken distillation from teacher models into new (ideally simpler) model was how R1 got created.

Call me when you add a at least two of orders of magnitude to that number. Sure these tools can do some interesting and useful things that assist humans. But for knowledge intensive workloads (the kinds of tasks these tools would be most useful for) 3k pages of knowledge is next to nothing.
