aight dude no offense when I say this but if you don't think you need confidence to get anywhere, then you have NO clue. In order to even get girls to notice you or let you approach them, you have to be confident in everything you do. You have to like yourself. You have to be confident in YOURSELF. I've got this friend, we'll call her R. R often times finds herself in similar situations. She either has no boyfriend, or does have somewhat of a boyfriend but said guy is a loser, using her for sex/money/place to sleep, etc. Several times a year, R will get in a funk where she's talking about why go on, why can't she meet a decent guy, what's wrong with her... basically what you're saying. I'm going to tell you what I tell her on these occasions and what I think is a large part of your problem.

You, my tortured young forum mate, need to stop looking for a relationship. Not because that's when a girl will find you, but because I don't think you can handle one right now. A girl will never love you if you don't love yourself, and it sounds like you're a long way away from that.

But more than that, it sounds to me like you don't view yourself as someone important unless you've got a girlfriend, and that right there is just setting you up to fail. Yes, being alone sucks, most of us have gone through dry spells, but instead of sitting in your room and crying about, change your attitude. Don't base the quality of your life on your relationship status. To quote a song, "If you don't have a date, celebrate/Go out and sit on your lawn and do nothing/because it's just what you much do and/nobody does it anymore."

In other words, be happy with yourself and being alone. Lead a full life in the absence of a girlfriend and then you will find yourself prepared to deal seriously with a girl when you meet her. Girls will sense your desperation and in my experience most girls don't want a needy guy. You're situation is such that I think you're broadcasting "help me!" with a loud speaker. That's going to turn girls off. So it goes back to what baller said about confidence. That word is overused when it comes to getting and keeping a partner, but there's a reason for that and you don't have any.

"Sure," you say, "you make it sound so easy, but how?" And the answer to that is 'I don't know.' That's something you need to figure out on your own and no one can really help you with it. You have to make the changes in your life that turn you in to the person you want to be and the kind of person a girl will respect and love. No one can do that for you.

To sum up, get your shit together, then try and find a girlfriend. How can you expect a girl to want to be with you when you don't even like being with you? If you aren't good company for yourself, what makes you think you'll be good company for others?
