Mushtaq Khan has worked in the entertainment industry for over decades and is known for his diverse roles. Recently, the seasoned actor opened up about the wage differences he faced while filming Anees Bazmee’s 2007 hit comedy Welcome. The film featured an ensemble cast that included Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Katrina Kaif. Mushtaq said that despite working on the film for an extended period of time, he was paid substantially less than the support crew of other popular actors.

In a recent interview with Filmymantra Media, Mushtaq Khan explained how the compensation was fixed irrespective of the number of days spent on the shoot. He stated, “When we have an agreement for anything, it is said that it is a 20-day shoot or a 25-day shoot. Accordingly, we decide our payment. I asked, ‘How much is the wage?’ You said it is a 25-day wage. accordingly, we decide our payment." He added that he never discussed the issue with Akshay Kumar or Anil Kapoor because it was about the system, not them.

Moreover, Mushtaq Khan highlighted that Akshay Kumar’s staff were getting paid more than him. Mushtaq added, “I will tell you the reason why the payment is more. It is fixed with us that you will do this film for Rs 1 lakh. So you have to do it, even if it takes 20-25 days. Now those people, the staff, are on per day duty. If we are also on duty, then imagine how much money we get."

Mushtaq claimed that when he protested to the producer about his shooting days being prolonged, the producer replied that he should be grateful to be a part of such a big film. He also refused to increase the remuneration. However, Mushtaq also expressed his satisfaction with the memes generated on his character and the enormous recognition he received from Welcome.

The film, directed by Anees Bazmee, was a big success and eventually became a franchise, with a sequel titled Welcome Back which released in 2015. The third installment, Welcome to the Jungle, is due to be released this year.

Meanwhile, Mushtaq was recently seen in Stree 2, alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
